I am seeking to gain a deeper understanding of martial arts...I have practiced martial arts for most of my life. I realized that learning techniques, forms, weapons and styles do not make a person a martial artist. Recently I became interested in using the Karambit.
After learning how deadly this weapon is...I began to re-think my motives for practicing martial arts. It is natural to want to protect ones self and family. But to destroy a human being in a cruel way does not rest easy with me. What is the motive for such destruction of an enemy? when I practice deadly techniques...I realize that I do not want to do such a thing to a human being...What is the justification for doing some of the horrible techniques to a human being ? ...
What should a martial artist think when he or she is confronted with an enemy? How does one prepare themselves inwardly for a dire combat situation. That in my opinion is the real martial artist is the person that understands the motives for action...
He should be trained mentally and spiritually before considering himself a martial artist. How to shape a mind for this field of knowledge is my present undertaking...One thing I did learn and realize about martial arts is that a practitioner should accept his or her own mortality. Then such person will be a better student...peace
